Career Highlights

Built Cedar Valley Hospice's inaugural Giving Tuesday campaign from the ground up by creating an engaging, approachable brand through short-form videos featuring the staff. This campaign raised over $40,000 in two years and helped expand our organization's reach on social media through organic posts and paid advertising. 

Secured a Certificate of Need for Cedar Valley Gastroenterology through the state of Iowa. This allowed the facility to establish an Ambulatory Surgery Center and provide a more accessible location for the community to receive necessary procedures, such as colonoscopies. 

Work extensively with the Iowa Irish Fest, including facilitating a large-scale visual rebrand and serve as point of connect between the marketing agency and the over 100 Irish Fest committee members. In the 2021 event, the Fest set records in bike and motorcycle ride registration, workshop attendance and cultural street traffic.

Digital Marketing & Community Engagement Specialist

  • Took the initiative to plan and execute a Giving Tuesday campaign from the ground up. Cedar Valley Hospice raised over $40,000 during two Giving Tuesday campaigns (48 hour time period).

  • Served as point of contact for multiple advertising agencies and community groups. This created several worthwhile partnerships, including with the University of Northern Iowa, allowing new nursing students to complete clinical rounds at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home and establishing grief support specifically for UNI staff. 

​

  • Increased social media outreach and engagement by emphasizing event-specific and human interest content, such as patient stories of care, employee anniversaries, outreach opportunities/community partnerships and fundraising opportunities. 

​

  • Implemented cross-platform media planning, which facilitated clear messaging across all team members' work and across all advertising mediums (social media, eNewsletter, television, radio, newspaper, digital advertising, etc.)

​

  • Primary content creation duties included: social media, eNewsletter, website design/management, video production/editing and photography. Able to pinch hit to create print/digital advertisements and event signage.

​

  • Gave educational presentations about the importance of hospice care, myths of hospice and additional Cedar Valley Hospice related topics. Received positive feedback from event attendees, averaging a 4.9 out of 5 rating for overall presentation effectiveness (feedback gathered across 2.5 years).​

  • Was hired as a copywriter and quickly advanced up the corporate ladder due to organizational skills, ability to communicate with clients and handle high-pressure deadlines.

​

  • Oversaw all print and digital advertising. This included campaign ideations/brainstorming, content creation, client communication, sending files to production and tracking campaign results. 

​

  • Wrote content for advertising (newspaper, radio, television, billboard, eNewsletter, digital advertising), websites, press releases and social media. 

​

  • Created long-form marketing proposals, making recommendations based on clients' budgets, target demographics and KPIs.

​

  • Checked and responded to onling reviews for over 100+ clients.

  • Joined the design team as an intern in May 2020 before being hired to the sports design team in a part-time capacity in August. 

​

  • Produced 25-30 high-quality pages per shift, above the expected company average of 15, all while maintaining the individual style of each individual newspaper.

​

  • Communicated with multiple on-site editors and served as the point of contact for up to six newspapers per shift.  

​

  • Create timely edits to first and second drafts of pages, regardless of who did the initial design.
